I recently I came across the website that you see below and was so impressed with the vision, excited about the mission, and convicted by the heart, that I knew I needed to be a part. Christmas is a time to celebrate Jesus. What is Jesus all about? Read Matthew 25. There is a Christmas verse for ya! Jesus is all about helping people, loving people, and reaching people with the eternal. Christmas giving has become a cheap sales pitch for corporate America to sell us their goods. It's time for Jesus' followers to get back to our roots, and remember our purpose.

Mary in India

Mary left Friday 10-10-08 with a team of 12 people from Life Church. They are visiting the orphanage that we support there, and will be ministering in India for 10 days. This is a dream come true for several people on the team, especially for Mary. You may not know this, but before getting distracted by and married to me, Mary dreamed of being a missionary and serving the needs of the neediest of people. She is a champion for these types of ministries, and I am so excited that she gets to go on this trip! It's certainly not her first trip to a third world nation, but it's her first trip in several years. Having babies and putting up with me has kept her busy for several years. It's exciting to think of her over there loving those kids!

Please be praying for Mary and the team. You might want to pray for me and our 4 kids as well. We are a little lost without Mary here at home. :-)

diving into the blog...

Yes, this is my first venture into the land of Blog. People who know me well know that I have a hard time just keeping up with my e-mail account, and that I don't really enjoy sitting in front of a computer for long. I've had several people encourage me to get a blog going, and to take the time to communicate through this medium. I finally said OK, and I will try to give this new thing attention on a regular basis.

I will use this tool to look at relevant topics, respond to current issues, comment on books, movies, music, and questions that people are asking. I may also use this blog to build on messages from Life Church. As many of you know I sometimes tend to run out of time on the weekends, so this provides me a chance to finish.

We'll see how it goes...
